Marking Time
Location: New Milton, New Forest, Hampshire
Date: Summer 2002
Commissioning body: Arts Council, England
About the project:
Trudi was approached by Forest Arts Centre to make a celebration of time for the Arts Council’s ‘Marking Time’ project for the millennium. Following a site survey within the town, a location at the convergence of roads and footpaths adjacent to the park was selected. On completion the 9m mural enhanced the area and the site has since been subject to further enhancement for the town.
The project included day workshops for pupils at the local primary school and brain storming sessions with the GCSE Art students at Arnewood School and studio involvement by the local children and arts centre. New Milton Sand & Ballast donated Purbeck Stone that was featured strongly in the finished piece, linking it to the local site.
