Artist's Inspiration
My work falls into 2 areas, public & personal.
There are features that are common to both areas, sustainable practice, where possible methods and materials minimise impact on the environment. The use of local crafts people and labour to enhance networking and share resources.
The work I create and install for sites within the public domain are site specific, they have a ‘sense of belonging’. They are designed using information gathered from research, practical work, group participation and studio development. People, places, materials are all intrinsically meshed together and inform the design process.
For my personal work, it is a more intimate journey where there are no commercial constraints and creativity and innovation are free to evolve. It is often where I work with concept ideas and explore without boundaries.
These different practices complement each other and studio forays can emerge later in site specific installations.
